Johnnie

Johnnie was born in Bow, East London in May 1937 and has vivid memories of living through World War II with his family.

One particular day, Johnnie’s Dad, who was a builder, was repairing a huge factory chimney across the road from where they lived. Suddenly, Johnnie saw a V-1 “Doodlebug” flying bomb approaching and he was terrified that it was going to hit his Dad… thankfully, it just missed and exploded a short distance away…
